Making money on eBay - Selling and Buying stamps on eBay.

To make money on eBay is very easy if you look following piece of paper was sold for $565.!! by eBay seller "olefredrik1943" from Norway.

If you live in 3rd world countries this item will make you earn for whole year or even two years.!!

Now let's see how easy it is to make money on eBay.

  • Make one postal rubber stamp of GENOVA similar to CDS (cancellation date stamp) from post office.
  • Make some other rubber stamp like "PROFUMO ORCHIDEA BIANCA"
  • Buy one old cover from eBay
  • Buy some old stamps from eBay

That's it.

Put all things together and start selling on eBay. And hope someone will buy it.

Or you can go to stamp show and look for OLD covers with some kind of stamp or without stamp with CDS on it and affix some famous stamps like GANDHI and put your rubber stamp.

Not sure whether following is Genuine cover or just made it like above. It's up to buyer to decide. It will be very hard for someone to go back 70+ years and think what happen and why it went to Italy.

But it was sold for $565 so someone is thinking it's Genuine, unique cover.!!

I am not here to certified that this is genuine or fake.

So don't you think you can make one like this from any country in the world.!! There are 200+ countries some don't even exist so make one of that.!!

If you do this it will not sell.!!

You need to make this cover famous.!!

Yes famous by exhibiting in stamp show as unique rare cover, one of a kind cover.

You need to make friends with Philatelic judges so you will win medal.

You can donate of the cover to Philatelic museum to make it more famous.

You provide this info to STAMP HANDBOOK author so people will start believing in it.

You have to do online stamp exhibition or write a blog so more people will see it.

Now put it on eBay for sale.

Still you have to work.!!
  • You have to do SHILL bidding. (to increase price and to make it looks like demand for this).
  • Your collector friends have to do FAKE bidding. (i scratch your back your scratch mine).
  • You have to pray god so someone will overbid all of the shill bidders and fake bidders and if you not you have to relist again.

So don't you think it's easy to make money.

It will make more sense to do this than work whole year if you are poor and live in India or Africa or other Asian countries.!!

So why wait and start thinking about it.

Some eBay sellers from India and UK are making living by doing this.!!!

They make covers with Gandhi stamps or British India stamps and make living. Some of the example will be 1969 Mauritius Gandhi stamps.! Ofcourse 1948 Gandhi stamps also as it will make them more money.!!

Some collectors/sellers from USA are helping them.!!

So BEWARE about this stamp collection world.!!

It's nasty.!

Thanks

Gandhi Rare Souvenir collectible stamps

Recently I saw India 1948 Gandhi Rare Souvenir sold for $989 by ebay seller "rushstamps"

This is private FDC of Gandhi 1948 stamps from India with CDS of "Bhawanipur" Calcutta.

To me this CDS does not make sense at all on First Day cover because it should have special cancellation from Calcutta instead of Bhawanipur.!!

Also stamps were not distributed to all post office. (It's not feasible to supply stamps to all small post office in India).

All CDS and special cancellation from smaller cities are nothing but FORGERY or BOGUS.

So do you really think this kind of Bhawinpur FDC is valued $1000.!!!

Do you think this is genuine transaction ?

Reason for doubt is that in Gandhi stamp collection there is lot of Forgery Bogus (never exist)

  • Shill Bidding (by seller other id or friends or relatives bidding)
  • FAKE bidding by other collectors.
Let's see even if it was sold for $1000 do you think following entities were paid.?
  • eBay commission
  • PayPal commission
  • Capital Gain Tax.
  • VAT in Europe or GST in India or Austrialia or where ever it was sold.
  • Sales Tax or Income Tax.

Only seller/buyer/ebay/paypal and government knows.

It was only supplied to big cities General Post Office. (GPO). To my knowledge it was only available in just 4 cities of India which were Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta and Madras.

It was not available in Ahmedabad GPO also, even though Mahatma Gandhi lived here for 11+ years and had house (ashram) there.

There are lot of BOGUS special cancellation available from various cities.

BOGUS means never issued but greed collector/exhibitor made one and started displaying in their stamp exhibition.

And that collectors/exhibitor started selling it after glorifying in their online exhibition and stamp handbooks.

Following are some of the BOGUS special cancellation.

You all know that there is a great push to GLORIFY 1948 Gandhi philatelic material as INVESTMENT in Gandhi stamps as well as other Gandhi stamps from different countries.

We all had seen lot of forgery by just making rubber stamp and applying on envelope, which as selling as used covers, first  day covers. Also we had seen some BOGUS (never exist) special event cover as well as first day covers.

In 1947 India Post & Telegraph printed it's first stamps in Nasik, India after independence from British, but they decided to print 1948 Gandhi stamps of India in Switzerland because India did not have good quality printing press.

So I am sure Post & Telegraph department also thought about standard in special cancellation, but if you see there is a very wide range of this special "Jai Hind" cancellation.!!

After reading this blog post you might start thinking whether you want to collect or INVEST in stamps.!!

TO ME IT ALL CANCELLATION ARE FORGERY OR BOGUS BECAUSE OF DEMAND AND GLORIFICATION.!!

I THINK THIS IS TO CREATE NEW THEMATIC COLLECTION OF 1948 FIRST DAY COVERS!!

SO BEWARE OF THIS.!!

And if you have already 1948 special cancellation in your collection then you will be AFRAID to go back and compare or even see it, because you will be scared that you might be victim of it.!!

In past I compared  special cancellation issued  from BOMBAY, but in this blog post I am comparing or display which ever I saw on eBay so everyone can get idea what happened in past 65+ years or is happening currently as you read this.!!

But it's nothing like 1948 Gandhi stamps with special cancellation including forged stamps.  To me it looks like very large quantity of FORGED or BOGUS first day cover with special cancellation are roaming in the market.!!

Now post office of India were closed even on First day of  Independence day - 15th August 1947 so how this many post office were open on 1st Anniversary.!!

Following are just a tip of iceberg from wide varities of 1948 Gandhi special cancellation from India.

Please look at all screenshot of 1948 Gandhi stamps with special cancellation and do SELF study before you pursue your dream or nightmare.!!

When you try to collect cancellation from different cities, then chances are that you might get BOGUS (never issued) or FORGED cancellation if it's rare available from small cities.!!

Chances are some collectors or dealers might have decided that let's create this 1948 Gandhi First Day Cover thematic collection from different cities of India.!!

Also you might see some BOGUS (never issued) or Forged cancellation from Nepal India Embassy, Pondicherry ( former French India until 1954) etc.

Compare following and you decide.!! HALF of them are BOGUS (not forgery, because it never exist or issued by P&T India.!!). You decide which are BOGUS (fantasy).

                                                      Calcutta Cancellation are different

 Simla cancellation are both different.!!

Both SHILLONG cancellation looks different with HINDI alphabet "Jai Hind" and type & # of lines.

Compare above cancellations from BOMBAY and check for # of lines, types of lines in center of special cancellation. (some has 7 and some has 8 and some don't make sense.!!)

Above two cancellation are from MADRAS. Only cancellation with "AUG".!! Also look at the difference between them in shapes. Also "." is missing.

Forgers have not only manufactured stamps for the philatelic market, they have added forged cancellations to those stamps.

Forged cancellations have also be applied to genuine stamps, in cases where the stamps are worth much more postally used. In addition, where rare cancellations are desired by collectors, those cancellations have also been forged.

Cancellations also may be used to prove that certain philatelic items are genuine. For example, forgers have fabricated many supposedly valuable postal covers by adding genuine stamps and forged postal markings to pre-stamp covers. (From Wikipedia)

Poona & Simla cancellation looks like BOGUS

Don't your think it's UGLY out there ?

Above two cancellation are from NAGPUR looks BOGUS. Look at the difference.

Kanpur & Patna cancellation with irregular alphabets and letters along with shapes

Delhi and New Delhi cancellation. Looks at  the difference.

Pondicherry was ruled by French India in 1948. Compare it with MADRAS which only has "AUG" where as Pondicherry has "AUGUST" even though they are very near.!!

Does ALLAHABAD & PATNA cancellation looks like GENUINE ?

Did you notice there was no special cancellation from AHMEDABAD where Gandhiji spend there 15 years of life after coming back from South Africa.!!

WHY ?

What to SELF study ?

1) G.P.O missing on Simla, Nagpur and Shillong. WHY ? ( Genuine or BOGUS or Forgery)
2) Alphabet type and size : Shillong, Delhi, New Delhi
3) Shapes of special cancellation (Madras)
4) Is it AUG or AUGUST.
5) Compare lines and size inside the cancellation
6) Compare Hindi languague alphabet "जय हिन्द"
7) All kinds of different things you can think and compare.!!

To me it looks like a BIG SCAM.!!!!!! But it's upto you to decide.!!!

Now you do SELF Study and decide and think deep what  happened or happening.!!

There is nothing RARE or Scare in philately because this hobby is in downward trend because experienced collectors are loosing interest because value is not appreciating and new collectors are not coming in to this because there are lot of other things to do for them such as playing video games on Nintendo or X-box , social networking on facebook or google+ or  surfing on web through internet or SMS through iphone or android or watch games such as cricket, football or basketball on TV.

Only way philately can sustain is to stop cheating in this hobby. Yes CHEATING.!! which is what you will see in order to increase value artificially by inflating the price by SHILL bidding, not paying to seller or mutual understanding cancelling transaction and lot more.

To know more about this kind of activity read my following blog post and think what are the possibilities in cheating, glorification, SHILL bidding, FAKE, Forgery etc.

1) 1948 Stamps False hope of Riches?
2) 1948 Gandhi Stamps: Are False hope of Riches - Part II ?
3) 1948 Gandhi Mourning Private FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part III?
4) 1948 Expensive Gandhi FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part IV?
5) 1948 Gandhi Stamps Early Usage cover :  Gandhi Stamps Are False hope of Riches - Part V?
6) Maxi Card sold for $5100 with 1948 Gandhi Stamps - False hope of Riches - Part VI?
7) Indian Philately Exposed
8) Indian Philately Exposed - Part II
9) Gandhi SERVICE overprint stamp price fell from $1009 to $1.!!
10) How can you tell that Gandhi SERVICE stamp is FAKE or Forgery ?

I hope all the above will help while making decision in investing stamps and to avoid getting CHEATED.!!

Now don't you think it does NOT make sense STAMP INVESTING!! or even Collecting.!!!

Do you think it's INVESTMENT or GAME.!!

I think it's not for Investment but it's a Philatelic GAME.!!

So let's see how to play  Philatelic Game.!! (click to read how to, rules and regulations.!!)

Gandhi Mourning cover - 1948 stamps of India

Gandhi Mourning cover to England was sold for $3933 by ebay seller olefredrik1943 from Norway.

Do you really think this was sold for $3933.!!

Reason for doubt is that in Gandhi stamp collection there is lot of
  • Forgery
  • Bogus (never exist)
  • Shill Bidding (by seller other id or friends or relatives bidding)
  • FAKE bidding by other collectors.

Now looking to this price I am not sure some is willing to pay $4000 for this cover which is not even officially issued by government.  It is private FDC which can be forged easily anytime.

Also now let's see if this was sold for $3933 so following needs to get money from buyer.
  • ebay commission
  • Paypal fees
  • VAT or GST to government.
  • Capital Gain tax on collectibles.
  • Income tax paid in Norway

Do you think anyone of the above got money from this Gandhi Mourning Cover ?

My personal opinion is that this cover is not have any value in Gandhi stamp collection.

This is just marketed by combined effort of Gandhi stamp exhibitors and Gandhi Handbook.

I will not even pay $50 for this as chances of authentic is very less as no one knows what happen in 1948.

It is just what you read from Gandhi Handbook or Gandhi stamp exhibition online.

So BEWARE before you invest in stamps.!!

It's just a piece of paper and no one collects it now.

Thanks

Gandhi Handbook - A review of stamp collecting handbook

Gandhi Handbook is one of the place where collectors and judges will look to find more info.

But do you know this Gandhi Handbook has lot of incorrect information.

Not only incorrect information but lot of FAKE or BOGUS philatelic material as well as imperforated stamps information is there.

It will be very hard to find out what is genuine!!

Most BOGUS/FAKE (never exist) info is about 1948 Gandhi stamps and philatelic materials.

Recently this Gandhi Hand Book was sold for $18 at eBay India site (ebay.in).

All philatelic material in this book was provided by  Gandhi stamps collector.!!!

So lot of FAKE/BOGUS material which was never issued by official government is printed in it.

So BEWARE when you look at this Gandhi stamp handbook.

If you are philatelic Judge don't use this book as reference otherwise you are putting your credit at risk.!!

If you are issuing Expert Certificate on philatelic material don't use this book as reference.

If you are collector please avoid this as reference to collect RARE, UNIQUE, ONE OF A KIND or only 100 printed.!!

Anglo-Indian-Affairs sold India EDVII 1909 SG147 25r stamps.

In past I wrote about King Edward 1909 stamp from India with 25 Rupees face value.

This King Edward 1909 stamp is available in plenty as REPRINT stamp from X-soviet union countries under $5.

What are chances of this stamp selling as Genuine.!!

Also consider 25 Rupees was lot of money in 1909 for any Indian people and to keep it in Mint condition for 100+ years in good condition is very rare unless you are from King's/Queen family.

In past REPLICA stamps were sold for $8-9. Don't you think it's easy to sell it for $1600 by SHILL BIDDING.!!

Click following link to read more about Replica stamp of King Edward stamp.

Recently India EDVII stamp issued in 1909 with (Stanley Gibbons # 147) SG147 of 25 Rupees stamp was sold for $1600.!!

Now did Ango-Indian_Affairs really sold this stamp ?

      * might not got money from buyer after winning it.!! (ebay will give refund to commission to seller)

Did it really sold ?

     * Did eBay got commission ?

Did UK government got tax ?

     * If it is sold then UK government should get TAX as capital gain tax.

Did UK government got VAT ?

     * If it is sold then UK government should get VAT.

My personal opinion(freedom of speech) about this transaction is

  • It's a Replica stamp
  • It was not sold for $1600 even you can see it on eBay.
  • No commission to eBay
  • No payment made. (Paypal did not get any commission).
  • No Capital Gain Tax to UK government.
  • No VAT paid.
What is your opinion ?

Thanks

BOMBAY G.P.O

Recently I saw ebay seller "krabinay" from Germany sold "India 1948 - Gandhi set on mourning cover" for $4050.!!

Who has this much money to buy this kind of stamp philatelic cover as no one is interested in collecting stamps.!!

We know there are lot of FORGERY available for BOMBAY G.P.O special cancellation. (You can read my blog post to know about this.)

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2014/04/stamps-investment-or-cheating-in-stamp.html

Please read above blog post and you will start thinking whether stamp collection make sense.!!

So do you think someone will pay $4050 for this cover ?

Or price is inflated by shill bidding ?

Do you think eBay is getting commission on this sale ? (seller can withdraw if buyer don't pay after winning auction.!!)

WINNER IS "i***e(380) WHO IS BIDDING ON 300 ITEMS IN 30 DAYS WITH 520 BIDS.!!

DO YOU THINK HE/SHE IS A STAMP COLLECTOR ?

OR

DO YOU THINK HE/SHE IS INCREASING PRICE AS SHILL BIDDER ?  (using his/her different id to increase price)

DOES BIDDING ON 300 ITEMS MAKE SENSE TO YOU ?

HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO BID ON 300 ITEMS ?

HOW MUCH MONEY HE/SHE IS INVESTING  STAMP COLLECTION?

DO YOU THINK THIS IS WHAT HE DO FOR LIVING ?

ANOTHER BIDDER IS BIDDING ON 706 ITEMS WITH 863 BIDS.!!

BIDDERS INFO :- THERE ARE 7 BIDDERS WHO DID 25 BIDS.!!

Thanks

Gandhi Nehru Imperforate colour trial.

Recently I saw Gandhi Nehru Imperforate colour trial stamp from India selling for $1800.

In past I bought some Gandhi imperforate sheet and I was cheated.

It was just photocopy. (color) and cut. Also it was just regular paper.!!

(Color printers are very advance so be careful. They can print currency notes so this IMPERF stamp don't even needs to perforated.!!)

So be careful when you go for IMPERF stamp.!!

1948 Gandhi stamp from India with overprint SERVICE sold for £500,000

I read following news  that 1948 Gandhi stamp from India with overprint SERVICE sold for £500,000.

Gandhi stamps sell for £500000

1948 Gandhi stamps sold for record Rs 4.14 crore

Rare 1948 Gandhi stamps sold in London for a record of Rs 4.14 crore

Rare Stamps From The Indian Independence Era Sold In London ...

Philately incredible: Aussie breaks record, pays $850000 for four ...

Rare Mahatma Gandhi stamps fetch whopping 500000 pounds at ...Gandhi stamp sale breaks Indian record

Read my following blog post and you decide whether this much money on stamps make sense to you.!!

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2014/07/overprint-stamps-1948-gandhi-service.html
http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2014/09/jal-cooper-overprint-stamp-how-he-was.html

Now let's not worry about whether this is BOGUS (never exist) or FAKE and consider as genuine.

Just think how much money GOVERNMENT is getting from this kind of stamp auction.
  • Capital Gain Tax
  • VAT
Do anyone know which country is getting this TAX ?

According to me Capital Gain Tax may be somewhere between $50000 - $100,000 as this is LONG TERM capital gain tax.

It's depends on country from where owner is selling.!!

But as this stamp is from INDIA does government of India is getting any money on TAX ?

Does government of INDIA know who bought this stamp in 1948.!! ?

Also auction house will get $50000 to $100000 from just one auction of stamp!! (10-20% commission).

We know buyer is from Australia so next time when it will be sold again he/she has to pay to Capital Gain TAX to Australian government.!!

As per following image Only 13 of the 1948 Gandhi 10-rupee Purple Brown and Lake 'Service' stamps are in circulation.

What are chances of more overprint stamp don't exist.!!

What are chances of more than 13 still exist.

May be 1000 or 10000 or more.!!

God knows how many were printed.!!

So now let's get back to point.!!

Which country is getting Capital Gain TAX ?

India, UK, USA, Australia or European UNION ?

Thanks

How to make money on eBay - Selling stamps

Recently I saw 1948 Gandhi FDC sold for $1700 by eBay seller "peter_se26" based in UK since 2002.

Item is located in Spain.!!

There were 44 bids on this Gandhi FDC.

Do you think stamp collection is this much popular in this modern age where no one collects anything because of lot of other things to do such as facebook/twitter/instagram/snapchat/youtube, surfing internet on mobile phone and more.

But there were 11 bidders who were interested in this stamp collection.!!

Do you think eBay got commission on this transaction ?

What are chances of

  • buyer might have not paid to seller.
Do you think this is really worth $1700 ?

What are chances of

    • FAKE bidding by other stamp collect to increase price ?
    • Shill bidding by friends, relatives ?
    • Shill bidding by seller by opening another eBay id ?

All are the possibilities when you sell on eBay so you cannot decide pricing based on selling price and you can't think that stamps are good investment.!!

Also do you think all government taxes like VAT/capital tax/income & local taxes etc are/will be paid for this eBay selling.?

    So BEWARE of stamp collection.

There is lot of cheating going in stamp collection to show that there is lot of interest in it. Also lot of Forgery and BOGUS stamps related items are selling.

    Thanks
    GSC
